Claire Rabkin is an artist and educator in the Bay Area. Her work is based in community, process, and play. She regards creative relationships as learning opportunities, aesthetic explorations, and cultural investments. She works in ongoing process-based collaboration with dancers and performers around themes of self, visual and literary metaphor, embodiment, humor, serious play, and learning.
She recently wrote, directed and performed Exercises in Vigilance, a Danzplay, which explored self and relationship in the face of apocalypse. She is a founder of The Tilted Floor residence and performance series, which provides thematic material for new work, facilitates collaboration, and hosts showings every six weeks. Claire also facilitates and participates in an ongoing figure drawing collective to expand her visual arts practice and empower bodies in her community.
