Born in Miami, FL, Woody Othello has a BFA in Ceramics from Florida Atlantic University and is now a MFA candidate at California College of the Arts. Woody makes drawings, paintings, sculpture and installation that revolve around ideas of the domestic as psychological space.
Woody has taught ceramic hand building, two-dimensional and sculpture classes to all ages during his residency at the Armory Arts Center, incorporating, mixed media, found object, paper mache, printmaking and various clay building techniques. In addition, he was a mentor to young artists at Florida Atlantic's artist outreach program and is currently an instructor at Play with Clay Studios and a Teaching Assistant at California College of the Arts.
He believes that art is plays a major role in developing one's voice and confidence. Woody sees endless potential with art in aspects of innovation and problem solving.
